"Common beliefs about the value and meaning of all life." Do they support abortion? If they make no stand, then they only care about children at what point?

"A sense of connectedness to the earth." What the heck does this mean?

"A shared vision of the future." Translation , please.

"Works with people of all beliefs to overcome poverty and hunger" I'm great with that.

"Which of those are you uncomfortable with?" See above. I haven't even looked at the site and I am making no judgments. They idea that these folks have no religion is doubtful based on the quotes above. The point I am making is this group sounds like a religious group even though you say they are not. Said another way, having no faith is a faith!

We have talked at length about my belief system. Many examples of odd ball “Christian” behavior get posted and then laughed at. Some have great fun with that. For a guy who claims to agree with Heifer organization beliefs, you don’t walk the talk. You are not tolerant of all faiths. What I have seen is a consistent, predictable, pattern of attempts to make a particular faith, mine, look foolish. It’s all good. Some day, you will call out to God, and he will hear you.

Eric, don't take this wrong, but I think you're blurring the line between religion and spirituality.

In the quiet suburb of Peoria, Arizona, outside of Phoenix, two women, aged 20 and 43, were purposefully run over by a car in a local parking lot on Tuesday.

Police in Peoria are looking for the suspect, whom they believe is the 20 year old woman’s father, 48 year old Faleh Hassan Almaleki of Glendale, an Iraqi national living in the United States.

The 20 year old victim, Noor Faleh Almaleki, of Surprise, Arizona, remains hospitalized after the hit, with life-threatening conditions. She was with her friend at the time, 43 year old Amal Edan Khalaf, who was also stuck by Almaleki’s car, but suffered only non-life threatening injuries.

According to police reports, the women were roommates.

Although Noor’s father, Faleh, has yet to be picked up by police, officials believe he ran the women down because he felt his daughter was becoming too ‘Westernized’ and was not living according to the family’s traditional Iraqi values.

If indeed guilty, perhaps it is time Mr. Almaleki realizes that he is living in the West, and that, here, his daughter is not considered property to be handled; she is a valuable human being.

In the United States, where we are all privileged to live, women are equals with the full right to act as ‘Western’ as they want, without having to worry that their unapproving Islamic father will run them down with his car and get away with it. Welcome to the West, Mr. Almaleki.

PS:
Honor killings are justified under Islam in some Muslim countries such as Saudi Arabia.

For example, tenth-grade textbooks teach Saudi children that it is permissible to kill adulterers.

In April 2008, a girl was killed by her father for talking to a boy on Facebook, A leading Saudi cleric, Sheikh Ali al-Maliki, was outraged that girls had access to such websites where they could post pictures of themselves and otherwise "behave badly," but showed no concern over the girl who was actually killed.
