Well Folks, we went back to the scene of the accident this weekend. During the majority of the trip up to the Motherlode, Tonka was a good boy, but about 25 miles outside of our property he started to get really antsy. Wacked, to be exact. I began to wonder if he'd flip his lid when we arrived. And naturally, I wondered if he needed to either pee or get a drink.
Well guess what? The guy apparently knew we were too far away from our Bay Area Vet to be going there and I think was actually getting excited to GO to the property. We got there and he jumped out of the car....paused....stood looking around....watched his sister take off, then looked at me as if to ask, "Can I Go? Am I Well Enough?" I simply said, "Go Have Fun!" He was off in a flash.
Water intake was essentially back to normal, although we did notice he seemed to tank up a bit right after dinner. Almost like a camel wanting to store it for later in the night when he was sleeping. But we averaged 7.5 hours a night of sleep and NO MORE accidents!
His wound/incision is healing nicely and hair is coming back, but he is going to likely have a scar from his ordeal. While I wish that weren't the case, I'd prefer that than not having him in my life at all. It just makes me sad because he is such a beautiful boy...
I have HIGH hopes his Diabetes Insiptus is self correcting. We plan on testing another sample on Friday. I'm hoping we're closer to normal this time!
And again, Kudos to Angels Camp Veterinary Hospital. I arrived home in the Bay Area to find a call waiting for me from Dr. Mike. He wanted status on Tonka, which I will attempt to give him this morning. 3 weeks after the incident and he's still checking in. I'm extremely impressed.
